Infosys hires through two distinct tracks — the regular Systems Engineer (SE) track and the higher-package Specialist Programmer (SP) track. Understanding which track you are applying for determines your entire preparation strategy.
Infosys Online Test Pattern 2025
The Infosys online assessment has three sections. Reasoning Ability and Data Interpretation: 15 questions in 25 minutes — includes puzzles, data sufficiency, and bar/pie chart interpretation. Mathematical Ability: 10 questions in 35 minutes — time-speed-work, profit-loss, percentages, and data interpretation. Verbal Ability (English): 20 questions in 20 minutes — reading comprehension, sentence jumbles, and error detection.
InfyTQ Platform and Certification
Infosys strongly prefers candidates who are certified on InfyTQ — their own learning platform. Completing the Python Fundamentals and Database courses on InfyTQ and passing the certification assessment significantly improves your shortlisting chances. The certification itself takes 15 to 20 hours to complete. Start this before your campus drive is announced.
Specialist Programmer Track
The SP track requires an additional coding round: two medium-difficulty problems in 60 minutes (typically arrays/strings and one graph or DP problem). Starting package for SP is around ₹9 to 10 LPA versus ₹3.6 LPA for SE. The SP cut-off in the online test is significantly higher — targeting above 80 percentile is advisable.
HR and Technical Interview
Infosys HR interviews focus on: communication clarity, willingness to relocate, situational questions (“describe a time you disagreed with a teammate”), and basic company knowledge. Technical interviews for SE track are conceptual — OOPS, DBMS basics, and one or two simple coding questions. For SP, expect two technical rounds with harder DSA problems.
Common Mistakes That Cost Candidates Their Infosys Offer
Not completing InfyTQ certification before the drive. Underestimating the verbal section — it is speed-tested, not difficulty-tested. Failing to research Infosys recent projects (Cobalt platform, Topaz AI suite are frequently discussed in HR rounds in 2025). Giving rehearsed-sounding answers to situational questions — interviewers specifically probe for authenticity in behavioral questions.
